# How times tables practice works: type for five minutes.

> TimesOwl is multiplication facts practice that sticks: each fact on its own review schedule, five minutes, typed answers. Open it on one device and start.

TimesOwl uses spaced repetition on multiplication facts from 2 × 2 to 12 × 12. Each typed answer changes when that fact comes back.

## Covers through 12 × 12

The deck is 121 facts. It opens with 8 and adds more only when the review pile is small (new facts when fewer than 15 are actively due; 3 new facts at a time). Overdue cards that would flood a sitting wait; at most 25 compete at once.

## Practice for five minutes

You pick 1, 2, 5, 10 minutes. 5 is the default. One fact at a time. The child types the answer. A correct answer earns 4 stars. Fast enough recall is 5 seconds; steady is 8 seconds. The question itself has no clock. Misses and slow-corrects share a short overlay that shows the fact both ways.

## TimesOwl sets the next review

Spaced repetition. Each fact has its own next-ask date, graded from correctness and response time. Kids never self-rate.

A new fact that is answered well every time moves through 20 seconds → 40 seconds → 1 minute → 3 minutes → 1 day → 3 days.

## One device

That is the usual path. Open TimesOwl and practice. You do not need an email or a password.

- **Your child has a device.** They open the site on their phone or tablet and practice. Same device next time, same progress. You do not need a setup speech.
- **You have the device.** Kitchen tablet, your phone, the living-room laptop: pick one and stay on it. That is how most families do it.
