# Math fact fluency from five untimed minutes a day

Fluency is already knowing 6 × 7. The fact comes back cheap enough that long multiplication still has room in working memory.

Fluency is 8 × 7 coming back cheap enough that long multiplication still has room.

You get there by producing the answer from memory, then waiting longer between asks as the fact strengthens. The fact has been pulled from memory many times, usually when it was getting thin. A dinner-table stopwatch is optional.

## Keep sessions short enough to repeat

Five minutes after snack, most days, is the version you will repeat.

Park it next to something that already happens, after snack or before screens. Ordinary Tuesdays are the ones that add up.
