# How spaced repetition works for times tables

> Every fact carries its own interval. Facts that hold get longer gaps. Facts that slip come back sooner.

Each times-table fact gets a review just before it would fade. Gaps grow when recall holds.

## What the schedule is doing

Every multiplication fact carries its own interval and strength. A new fact comes back in seconds. A miss starts that short ladder over so it can be recalled again before the session ends.

A session then holds facts that are worth asking today. 3 × 2 stays out of tonight’s list. 7 × 8 comes back before a month of silence can wipe it.

## Why this fits the times tables

The method works on many small facts that need to come back fast. The times tables are 121 items from 2 × 2 to 12 × 12, each a one-second retrieval, each with its own habit of slipping.

Worksheets and games skip the dates. The dates are why 7 × 8 is still there in March.
