Terms of use

TimesOwl is a free website for practicing multiplication facts. If you use it, these terms apply. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

These terms are written in ordinary language on purpose. They are still the rules for the service. They work together with the privacy policy, the cookie notice, and the children’s privacy page.

The person who registers the household — or who lets a child practice on a device they control — is responsible for that household.

TimesOwl schedules the 121 multiplication facts from 2 × 2 through 12 × 12 and runs short typed practice sittings. A sitting is a few minutes. The app grades answers itself. It is not a full math curriculum, not a homework planner, and not a school.

The service includes the marketing pages, the practice app, Progress for the household, and the account screens. Features can change. We may add or remove screens without rewriting every sentence here.

TimesOwl is free to use. There is no paid plan and no in-app shop. If that changes, we will say so in the product and update these terms before we take payment.

You may use TimesOwl if you can form a contract in your place. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should be the one who registers and should know the child is practicing here.

The practice app is aimed at children, roughly ages 7 to 11, with an adult nearby. We do not offer a separate child login. We treat the caregiver account as the adult’s. See the privacy policy for what we store.

Do not create an account for someone else’s child unless you are their parent, guardian, or have their parent’s OK. Do not type another family’s email into registration.

On first practice, TimesOwl creates a household, one learner profile, and a browser session without asking for an email. That is enough to practice on this device.

Registering adds an email and password to the caregiver on that household so you can sign in elsewhere. Signing in on a different browser opens the registered household. It does not merge whatever anonymous practice happened on that other browser.

You can add named learners in the same household (siblings). The session follows one active learner at a time. Keep the password to yourself. You are responsible for practice and feedback that happen while this household is signed in on your devices.

We do not currently offer password reset by email or account export as a file. You can clear a learner’s history or delete the household from Settings. Email privacy@timesowl.com if you need help with an account. We may refuse a request that looks like it belongs to a different household.

One person, one caregiver login. Do not share a registered password as a public “class account.” Do not try to break into someone else’s household.

Use TimesOwl to practice facts and to look at this household’s Progress. That is the idea. Do not, and do not try to:

• Probe, scrape, or overload the site in a way that is not ordinary browser use (including automated harvesting of the fact catalog or other families’ data).
• Probe for other people’s sessions, cookies, or admin tools. Admin is not a public feature.
• Upload malware, or use the feedback form or error reports to send abuse.
• Impersonate another family, or register an email you do not control in order to take over a household.
• Use TimesOwl to build a competing dataset of children’s practice by collecting other users.
• Circumvent limits, impersonate our servers, or mess with cookies and tokens to look like another learner.

We may suspend or delete a household that breaks these rules, and we may keep the minimum we need to prevent a repeat (for example the email on a banned account).

The scheduler picks facts from this learner’s history. Stars, streaks, and Progress graphs describe what happened in TimesOwl. They are not a report card, a diagnosis, or a promise about a quiz at school.

We do not warrant that a child will memorize the tables, enjoy practice, or finish homework faster. Use it as one tool next to school, a tutor, or a homeschool book.

If the app is down, slow, or wrong about a fact, we will try to fix it. We do not owe credits, refunds, or extra sittings — there is nothing to refund.

TimesOwl, the owl artwork, the wordmark, and the site copy are ours (or used by us with permission). You may not copy the product, scrape the catalog to republish it, or reuse the illustrations as your own brand.

You may practice, print a Progress view for your own family, and tell other parents about the site. That is the intended use.

The name you type for a learner, and the answers a learner submits, stay with your household as described in the privacy policy. Feedback you send can be used to improve the product. We will not publish a child’s name as a testimonial without an adult’s OK.

If you send feedback, you are giving us permission to use the idea to improve TimesOwl without paying you. Do not send anything you want to keep secret. Do not include another child’s personal information in a feedback message.

TimesOwl runs on Cloudflare (Workers, D1, R2, and logs). Their network is part of how the site exists. Links on marketing pages to research or other articles are not TimesOwl, and those sites have their own terms.

We do not currently embed other companies’ widgets, payment forms, or social plugins.

TimesOwl is a small free app. We provide it “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not promise uninterrupted access, that every fact card is free of bugs, or that the spaced-repetition schedule is the only correct way to learn tables.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost practice data, lost stars, a bad quiz score, school consequences, or indirect or consequential damages that come from using or not being able to use TimesOwl.

If a court will not allow a full waiver, our total liability for a claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us for TimesOwl in the twelve months before the claim — which is zero while the app is free — or twenty-five US dollars, whichever is larger, if a court requires a number.

Some places do not allow certain limits. In those places, the limits apply only as far as they can.

You can stop using TimesOwl at any time. Log out, delete cookies, delete the household in Settings, or email us to delete a registered household.

Anonymous households that are never registered are deleted after about a month. We may also delete or freeze a household that violates these terms, that looks abandoned after a long time, or that we have to drop because we are shutting the product down.

If we close TimesOwl as a whole, we will say so on the site if we still can. We do not promise a data-export window beyond what the privacy policy already describes.

We may change these terms. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page is the notice. If you keep using TimesOwl after a change, the new terms apply. If a change is material for registered households, we will try to say so in the product or by email.

TimesOwl is offered from the United States. These terms are governed by US law, without a made-up choice of some specific state’s courts we do not actually sit in.

If we have a dispute we cannot settle by email, it will be heard in a court that has a lawful basis to hear it. These terms do not send disputes to a private forum or waive class actions. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
