Times tables flashcards that skip the cards they already know
Paper cards work for a first look at 6 × 7. A hundred-card pile on Wednesday night is a shuffle of easy facts, while the six that still wobble get one pass.
The pile gets worse as the deck grows
Paper decks and most apps shuffle every card into the same pile. Easy facts take the minutes, and the hard ones get one pass, same as everything else, so they never catch up.
Sorting cards into a got-it pile and a not-yet pile helps for a night. By Thursday the piles have been knocked over, a sibling used the table, or you were too tired at 9 p.m. to re-sort.
Where paper still earns its keep
If you like, use cards for the first exposure. Say 6 × 7 out loud a few times while the idea is new. After that, ongoing review belongs in something that already knows each fact’s history, so nobody is manually sorting stacks.
